This is NOT the next version of SfP, but the audience I want to reach with this is in this forum. I'll keep it general here, and if anyone is interested in helping with ideas and testing in the long run (next few years probably) I'll start up a yahoogroup so we can keep things semi-private.
General Concept: The game will be a fantasy-themed game where the players form a virtual society. Players will be responsible for getting their own food, clothing, and equipment, and finding their own adventures. The overworld of the map will be in real-time, with a conversion system to change real-time to action points for areas where real-time won't work particularly well. The game will have various fantastic and common beasts of low intelligence, but any creature of high intelligence will be player controlled. The game is 100% a role-playing game. Players will be able to control multiple characters, and cheater reporting will be kept in-game via a "prayer" mechanism where players can communicate their concerns to the "gods," i.e. the moderators. Confirmed cheaters will literally be struck down by the gods in the game (just a fun element for the mods, and makes it easier for players to police their own). The game has many aspects, and will be implemented in phases. Hallmarks: -A hard-coded religious system -Magic and magic item creation -Player constructed towns and dungeons -Large scale army combat -Various player species, with differing needs and attitudes to promote species conflicts -A political career track, where players can control NPC populations -Integration of players into armies as officers -The ability form PCs into "parties" -Tons of other stuff If you are interested in going on a discussion group, post here and I'll post the web address to sign up. |

We worked a lot on this design.
It just grew out of control, would take forever to get running. Had a lot of fun doing it though. |
