Thread: Things Have Really Improved :D

Total Signups last Day: 15
Total Signups last 3 Days: 66
Total Signups last 10 Days: 330
Total Online last 30 Minutes: 22
Total Online last Day: 175
Total Online last 3 Days: 286
Total Online last 10 Days: 610

Wow!!! 610 players online in the last 10 days .. now, I wonder if that is actually Players or Wrestlers, and if that is 610 DIFFERENT players/wrestlers or could it be 61 players/wrestlers logging in once each day .. but not to worry - it is fairly obvious that the plans (????) to entice more players to VOW and to keep them playing are working wonders :D

OK .. sarcasm over with. Serious points now ...

VOW is suffering from lethargy ... chat is dead, and is generally only being used by players to get matches or act 'tough' or by experienced players discussing their non-VOW based e-fed matches. Hardly enticing to new players really.

Nobody knows what actions are being taken by Peter and the Mods to attract new players to the game, or to encourage players to stay, so it is probably rightly assumed that NOTHING is being done at all.

Mods are conspicuous by their absence ... when was the last time that 'Cobra Commander' or 'Plit Mod' made an appearance in chat to calm things down or offer advice in chat?

I've no issues whatsoever with the decisions that the Mods make in terms of chat bans, suspensions etc ... the issues are around the lack of consistency, the different interpretations and enforcements of the different rules and the complete lack of communication from Peter + the Mods to the players.

Whether a player gets banned for breaking a rule seems to depend on which Mod spots the infringement or picks up the report (and what their own interpretation of the rule is), who the player is that is breaking the rule (newbie, Legend, Donator, plays other non-Vow based games with the mods for example) maybe even the paricular period in the lunar cycle .... various other unfathomable reasons may exist as well.

This is not having a dig at the Mods for what they do ... more of a criticism of what they DON'T do and of the reasons behind why lots of players get away with 'bending' the rules while others seem to get banned for the slightest infringement.

I can understand that at a time when Peter + the Mod team are trying to encourage more players to stay with VOW once they've signed up that maybe more leniency is being shown ... but there has to be a consistent approach to Chat infringements and interpretation of the rules, regardless of who the person breaking the rule is.

Come on Mods/Peter ... perfect opportunity to get your points across and tell anybody who is interested just what you are doing to attract new players and what you are doing to keep them once you've got them. May also be a good opportunity to put across a DEFINITIVE set of rules ...

"Come on Mods/Peter ... perfect opportunity to get your points across and tell anybody who is interested just what you are doing to attract new players and what you are doing to keep them once you've got them. May also be a good opportunity to put across a DEFINITIVE set of rules ..."

Or perfect opportunity to close down the game?
You're still convinced that they care?

Convinced they care about VOW .. or the perception of VOW ... or neither?

Convinced they care about VOW or their own records on VOW ...

Convinced they care about what the vast majority of players or just those players they think of as friends (at least their current 'friends' anyway)

Guess the answer is they couldn't really care less seeing as none of them APPEAR to be doing anything anyway

"VOW is suffering from lethargy ... chat is dead"

I can remedy this

We all petition to get Aiden free membership for life. Thus he would fill up the chat with random nonsense for the good of... himself. =D

Completely agree John.

I got a 1 year chat ban because nobody was around to remove it.

I can't remember the last time a visible mod was on the game, I see the "hidden" mods online all the time (don't worry I wont name you).

This game is the best online wrestling game so take advantage of it! Spice it up a bit with a re-design and some Javascript/Ajax adaptions. The game looks like it's about 20 years old.

As if people still want to play WoD, nowadays.
There are so many more similar and better games out there that actually get updated :D lol

And the point in having no more mods is because of 2 reasons:
1) Nobody plays it anymore, so why need mods? :P
2) They want to make all mods hidden, so... I guess they succeeded :P

Hmmm...I remember...way back when...some of you posting here, saying negative comments towards Bruiser Brody's approach to "VOW looks and feels too old and needs a refreshing update in some areas".

I agree with you John, unfortunately, when we had Peter's attention, too many of you (Veterans) dissed my ideas and proposals to help generate a VOW for the future.

"WE" had a chance several years ago, but Peter plain and simple just got bored reading all the bickering. Veterans of the time, were spamming "hate and confusion" to keep VOW..."as it was. why fix was isn't broken".

Several of us tried, at the expense of our own reputations, to get players to see the light...to no success. A lot more love and open eyes back then, would have "probably" yielded better results for today.

Final -- the Veteran base proved most influential when Peter was active in the game....LIVE WITH WHAT YOU ASKED FOR = no change in progression, no game evolution, low playerbase from which Huge Legend bonuses make a player look "immortal". That's not dissing any one person, but more directed to those who opposed change saying " VOW if fine the way it is "...and attacked me and others for seeing into the future and offering positive sound ideas to improve the game that we all have played for years.

" On the subject of Game Moderators "

It has always been my philosophy that those who "volunteer" to help Moderate the games be monitored on a monthly Grade, and that they receive in-game compensation via a "free" donation account, while they are in service (and good standing).

:) :) :)

AND BE VISIBLE

Taxpayers did :)

the issues are around the lack of consistency, the different interpretations and enforcements of the different rules and the complete lack of communication from Peter + the Mods to the players.

The answer to this is simple. Set the MOD mode to "enforcement without interpretation" or "by the letter of the Law". To get the attention of the owner, all it takes is for the Head Mod to "reset" the rules via Forum; a set of Rules that make sense without conflict. All cases that are on appeal, MUST be answered promptly, by the Head Mod. ***Waiting two weeks or longer for a final judgment JUST WON'T WORK.

Men must be governed. Granted, unwisely at times, but they MUST be governed

Governance "without" a moral, biased eye and a smidgen of compassion creates Anarchy.

If players and MODs, want to see a successful VOW, then man up first before asking the Owner to do anything. UNITE, DON'T FIGHT. Stop worrying about your records, Legend Bonuses, VOW immortality, and game status.

I am still a GM on other game sites. Last year, I was confronted with a situation that involved a "long standing and well liked" player using a "programmers" code to intercept ALL Private Club (Stable) chat channel communication.
1) This is a violation of privacy,
2) This is a violation of privacy with a game that has teens,
3) They also intercepted the MOD Private Club channel, and
4) They failed to notify anyone governing the game of this very serious exploit.

I was notified by a player who was friends to that player and I both, that they had this code and was sharing it. Now, the offender helped me early in my gaming there and we spoke often...YET I had to do my job...and the dirty deed...of banning a close friend and veteran of the game. The test of a MODs resolve is not in how they govern friends, it's how they govern their "close" friends !!!

I agree with your post re Governance Jim, which is why I held my hands up and agreed with the Mods decision to remove me as a Chat Mod (although the way it was done still leaves a nasty taste in my mouth)

As I think most players on the game would agree .. the rules need to be redefined and an appeals process needs to be instigated.

And the Mods need to respond to players who send legitimate queries/appeals/requests to them in a timely fashion.

Either get more Mods in to help do this, or get Mods who are going to actively perform their Mod duties regularly.

And make it visible that they are doing so, to stop accusations or assumptions that they care more about their own VOW records than they do about the game itself.

Hmmm, guys, I know you don't like it when I'm pessimistic, but...

I see your point 'fly .. but ...

Why accept the status quo? Why not at least try to get him to see sense and actually do something to improve the way the game is being run, to help entice, and more importantly, keep players on the game?

Doing nothing and sitting back just makes everybody else as guilty as him.

Well, I'm glad you all try.
I just don't want you all to be dissapointed, as Peter isn't going to do anything anyway.

People have asked him if he wanted to sell, and made offers (as far as I know) and he never even replied...

Why would he act now, if he never acted in the past?

I gave up hope on him, really... :(
And I once was so hooked up on PLIT.

I believe we all were, Suep. I've had characters on every PLIT game, and the only one i really stuck with was VOW. I've given up hope of ever seeing this game progress, so instead i just hang out on the forums and utter nonsense at inappropriate times and bust peoples balls over nothing. :)

If Peter doesn't want to continue working on VOW he really should hand over control, he doesn't have to sell it if he doesn't want to.

This comment was too serious for me, hang on whilst i find a macro or .gif to create a nonsensical balance.

I personally think part of the problem is the fact that NOBODY seems to put any creativity into their challenges anymore. I swear, if I get one more "?" challenge, I'm going to slap the hell out of Katy Perry (since, really, she seems to be the spiritual source of all uncreativity in the world).

years ago peter made this game to put food on his table when he was unemployed. Now that he has a good job and doesnt need the money as much he has lost interest and has no loyalty to the game or the players that helped feed his family at that time, and most of them have left because of it. A friend of mine was going to buy the game at one time but was told he could'nt sell his baby. We have watch the game go close to inactive, it is only a matter of time before it closes down for good. He is just letting it run it's course and I am sure he is currently thinking of shutting it down. player base is down and so are donations, he wont continue paying for the server himself so vow is on limited time. Peter has stopped caring about this game along time ago which is obvious, he could do things to spark interest in the game again if he so chose. but he has moved on to greener pastures. I will play till it compleately dies and that could be as soon as tomorrow.

All of you are a bunch of complainers.

Don't take that the wrong way... that's a really good thing, as such pressure from the public usually leads to much-needed change. Complaining is good.

Unfortunately, the sad truth is that the PLIT community has been yearning for improvement for years now. If you think VOW has it bad, just consider how players and fans of the other PLIT games feel about PLIT's stagnation.

Below are just some of the nuggets of gold that can be found by digging through the forum. It is a bit hard to maintain a positive attitude after what has now become YEARS without improvement.

You think he'll even take the time to read this?
