This thread has just piqued my curiosity, as VOW 1 is something that I was obviously not a part of and during my time here, VOW 2 has changed very little. Would you folks be able to describe what VOW 1 was like back in the old days? :) |

A lot better...not as in gameplay, but the people + athmosphere was...
Think of VOW2 but with less moves, no specialized moves, no staff and no stables or tag teams and less tournaments... Pretty sure that was it. |

VOW2 started on 3rd March 2004 (I think), and I started on the 19th March 2004, so sadly I'm not a VOW1 player :P |

VOW 1 had:
- 1 style more (amateur wrestler style) - Less moves (I'd guess around 50) - No leagues - Tourneys cost 5000$ (style) 10000$ (rest) and thus would only run once a month - No Finishers (you got one finisher at the beginning that wasnt based on any move) - No tag teams - No fame (was introduced in the last 2 weeks of VOW1) - No staff - more injuries - no LMS and Table matches - Healing worked a little differently - You could not see your opponents exp or your own (was changed in the last 2 weeks of VOW1) - You allways got 5 exp for a win - Match description was not as detailed as now. Color commentary was missing - a different forum - your max-stats didnt grow with exp (changed in the last 2 weeks of VOW1) - you did not know your max-stats until you reached them - lots of practical changes that have been made didnt exist back then. For example, there was no "message" or "challenge" link in the playerlist or charsheet - you had to type your opponents id everytime you made a challenge |

aside from all the fakers, the ones around in VOW1 were:
Hoodie, Scorp, LM, Cone .... and thats allready it. So 4 are left (or 4 of those that are left read the forum) not a lot, but still... |

pretty few ones are still around from the old times. Things keep evolving and life goes on i guess...:P I think i (Hooded Star) had an Id of something like : 3189 or something. I still remember the times when I , Thorondor and some other tried to Start Rp-ing in the forums ..lol Jolly good times.. |

Missed this one, I unfortuantely missed out on VOW1. I joined in the early days of VOW2 when things were still being decided. I remember the crappy start stats and the having to type peoples ID's to challenge them. I also remember reading a hilarious roleplay between Son Of Sam, Masked Avenger (I think that was his name... masked something) and a couple of other guys I can't remember. That old forum rocked :D |

It sounds as if VOW2 is a great improvement form VOW1
you cant see m2.(29020) I joined 2 years ago so i missed out on VOW1 by about half a year... but i have still been around long enough to remeber a vow with only singles, ladder and cage... and i also remeber when there were only about 8 legends in all of vow... and to be a legend was the pinical of this game... however now becoming a legend doesn't mean as much as it once did:( |

It was also 5 exp a win at one point, even for beating 0 exp noobs. LAW was up to 200 exp and there was even a point when it was just LAW and PWO. |

Balls to the Wall - yes my current id is high, but i believe my original id was pretty low. that account got deleted for inactivity and i recreated with my new id. i think i was somewhere around scorp for ids though. don't know what it was but I have been playing for a long time anyway. |
