Is there any correlation between the amount of men sent into a Mil block and the yield gotten out of it? I forgot about the advice in Raving Tactics and sent in 200Nov, I succeeded with few injuries but only got 50 Pistols and Vests and since I have heard talk of lasers and all I can only assume either these are produced later in the game or with larger forces.

The yield has to do with your attack retreat level. You are only going to get lasers/body suits with it set to 10....and even then it is luck as to what you get. No point attacking at anything less than 10, in my only slightly humble opinion ;-)

Thanks, does that also work for taking over normal blocks? The maximum I ever get from a block is 5 recruits and maybe 1 pistol and vest so would having 10 retreat also bring this up sloghtly?

Nature - by only taking RES. Read the Tactics thread.

Kray - No. Thats about the most you can get from taking an uncontrolled block.

First thing I do in a new game is change attack retreat to 10 and keep defence at 7.

Yeah, random. You never know what you are going to get. Sometimes though, the payoff is really sweet.
Supposedly there is no difference between PWA/MIL blocks. Personally I seem to have better luck with MIL.

Defence at 7?

I am not an expert, but I always practiced keeping Defence at 2, as thus you will retreat more quickly and thus loser fewer men.

When fighting large wars, your opponent will mostly always have enough men to wipe you out anyway, in that field of view I think it is wise to avoid losing men as that you may strike back even harder.

Yes Zeus. I used to do the same. But after a bad experience early on in a game with R2 I now stick to 7 - I had so few men left after doing my turn my neighbour was able to roll over me with the low def. I probably would have lost anyway, but with 7 your men put up more of a struggle against that all-important first attack.

Later in the game I switch to 2 or 10, depending on my relative size. It can be quite satisfying going to 10 and watching a smaller enemy waste his men against you ;-))

And nothing is as much fun as catching an attack in real time and switching your def from 2 to 10 just as they think they know what to send to take you...Awesome ;-)

Are Mil better defended than PWA?

They are the same. Some say MIL give better results than PWA but they do not - I once did 60 attacks on each and got similar averages.

Even so, I always hit MIL ;-))

Since I have never properly attcked any Mil and have never even touched a Pwa I'll just use the advice that Raving gives in Ravings' Tactics(In GW Newbies for all who want advice as it does help). He recommends 1000Nov atleast possibly 1500 and you MUST have your attacking retreat level set to 10 so you get maximum items.

I would recommend even more. There is a chance that you will lose the battle with 1000 to 1500 novs.

I have never lost with 2000.

*EDIT DEC 20, 2007* I have just lost with 2000 novs. It sucked. Really.

Yes I tried with 1000Nov and 100Exp and I lost them all :( My game will have taken a big impact because of it but I should still be the most powerful.

Is it my fault you can not understand simple English? Bet you did not even send them armed/armored, did you? ;-)
