Sorry, I was never known for being friendly. And oh, Maximus did the same to me once. In the end I killed him, probably a bad sign for me.
Anyway, it will be a nice round of battles. Although I am getting certain that with Buffs you'll take the upperhand. That's ok, then I can create a new party. :) Analysis: You'll have to get past my Dwarven Warriors...and that may be the hardest. Magic and Missile is pointless. Since most of the damage there goes on my back row chars, which is actually into my advantage since my party will then retreat quicker. |

Nah, there is very little damage in the magic phase between 2 old players, some missle damage, some melee damage and then they retreat. The damage just gets put on too slow.
Why did I kill Zeus and then he kill me? When I killed Zeus, his: StartRetreatLevel% = 70 When he killed me, my: StartRetreatLevel% = 60 Zeus's battle with Blitzed, Zeus: StartRetreatLevel% = 90 and you are not likely to find him unbuffed.... I think the only way you can take out a big player is hitting them with multiple big BoB players in a row. There just aren't that many that play. BTW Nains had a few characters still alive in the woods near Gnolls Home. If you set a hostile toward him and walk around, you will find him. He went BoB upon his retirement and asked to be attacked in the hopes it would invigorate the high end BoB game. IT WORKED!!!! |

Even then... If your retreat is very high, you're unlikely to get killed that fast. It is difficult to compare old player to new ones. All the new players (myself included) had the benefit of following the first generation players in. Gools was the very first to enter Astral, so he is the king of all players. He had no maps and no idea what to expect. He was followed by II, Ugly Bugs, Magnus, Nains, Greyhawks and a few others, and all of these guys had very little info on the New World, the islands, the wasteland and astral. Some of them lost members and quit, some of them got bored and stopped playing. Nains was one of those that just ran out of content and left. There was no high-level player-vs-player back then.
I didn't get any info directly from Gools, but I studied his scores on the ranking board and didn't go to Astral until I had my skills up to his. Each generation of players gets more info on how to proceed, so I expect the newer players to be stronger then the old ones. Personally, I consider Blitzed to be the best player in the game so far. If you take his AP spent and divide it by his monster combats, it comes out to 4.4 ap per monster combat. Not sure if anyone has beaten that. |

Agreed. But i surely doupt if he'd had gotten even half that far withouth the info from the past players. He rushed through the game, using all the info available, wich was a huge lot allready. The newest player around that diserves my respect now is Tauron. He started from scratch, didn't even want to recieve too many gifts from me (minor magic stuff i give to beginners all the time) and now he followed me right behind me (1 day after i did) in the NW. I had more gold for training so i finally ran of from him a little bit, but he sure is gaining on me fast! Also Bloodlustlords diserves a lot of respect for getting where he is now in such a short notice. If he donated, he would have rushed right past me allready! Too bad / luckily (depending on your point of vieuw) he hasn't been able to donate yet. But he's planning to though. Cause we all know killing some giants isn't really that much of a thrill anymore :D (except if you only use 1 healer against 12 giant, right blitzey?) cheers -DF- |

Only a handful of the "new" generation players have been able to do the upper level Astral dungeons since the training limits were capped off...so in a sense it's a different competition...that Blitz was able to do it so soon is a huge accomplishment. |

Just my 2 cents. You should all know that when I created this party, I started on day one with 7 members and with each player fully equipped with named items with the exception of rings. Tough to find 70 of them. These items were all graciously recovered from the first party I ever played with.
Having played a party previously this saved a ton of AP as I allready had decent locations on everything. I was hitting the dragon at Meriniver when I hit 70K AP spent. The Arena in the NW at 100 and Astral by 175. By 250 I was top level Astral. The whole goal of this party was to see how far I could progress a party in the least amount of time. If I ever did it again. The party would be set up as follows. This is if you know what your doing and you want to break records. 2 Dwarf Warriors, 1 Mage and 1 Healer. I believe a set up like that would crush everyone out there. BTW - good to see some chat out here. |

Hey - I've allready played through twice. Statement - "Third times a charm" does not apply here.
Maybe I'll think about it if someone can show they can beat this party. I'll remove my retreats and let them all die a good death. Don't really have it in me to play through again. Much nicer to come back and remember the good ol days every once in a while. :) |

wow, does reading this thread take me back. i learned how to play from all those guys. maximus was a huge help to me back in the day, along with demons from hell. if i remember right, maximus was in the same alliance as me. but that was about 2 years ago.
