Thread: True or False: Traditional Wrestlers are WEAK

The reason I need feedback is because I'm thinking about replaying as a trad after I retire my current wrestler.

I would disagree. I have had great success with my Trad, other than Stiff Neck it has been the most successful style for me.

Yes, I am sure that one can have great success with a traditional wrestler, but how exactly does the benefit of an increased pin chance outweigh the trad's overall lower stat max?

Don't get me wrong. Traditional is most likely going to be my style of choice for my next wrestler, but this slightly negative perception of trads with regard to their stats needs to be addressed.

Considering Bubba's latest wrestler is packing uber damage bonus, I don't think his man's fighting style would be relevant at this point.

Trads can be strong IF you can use them correctly. From what I've seen, a lot of people that complain that Trads are weak fail to realise that overall Trads are (in my opinion) the best singles wrestlers!

Especially with a damage bonus, Trads are even better in singles (for quick wins).

Higher damage + increased pin chance + decent (not exceptional) sub stat = solid singles wrestler.

I agree with LK. Trads are very specialist. They were made for singles. Prepare to fail if you go charging into the non-singles matches, but if you stick with singles matches, you will be ok. Plus trads have great upset ability with the bonus. That's always fun.

Well considering that Cap is talking about using him as his next style after he retires, he will have a damage bonus also. So yes my comments should be taken with a grain of salt but not considered irrelevant.

Thanks everyone, for all your feedback. I only do singles anyway so it looks like trad is the way to go for me.

In a few months, the Stupendousness shall begin anew.

The reason trads are bad is because during LAW most people send LMS's during LAW its tough, but later its easier. Also they aren't good in e-feds because you can get booked in Cages.

So don't fight LMS matches while you're in LAW.

Are you even a trad? Trads should only fight horrible guys or other trads in LMS's

If you can figure out how the game works you can many any charatcer good. Simple realisaitions over what is popular belief and what is the actual case will help you alot. So making up your own mind from your experience is your best bet :)

I will say that trads are not weak period, damage bonus or no damage bonus, singles or non-singles...as long as you use the strategy called nubious bashious - aka n00b bashing :D

I modeled the vow trad after HHH. All the stats are even(except arial) Has high con than other styles (not sure if this is still true) and peter put it to have a Higher chance of pinning. With high powered moves it should be able to last long enough to pin the opponent. Most people dont like it because they usually take high damage but thats what a trad is all about.

Ocelot:
Nah, I just checked. It would have been nice to have extra consciousness. Then trad wrestlers would have more incentive to get into non-singles matches. Not that it matters too much to me anyway, as I'm going trad no matter what. :p

Data below is accurate as of 09/29/05:

tajiri_._tarantula(11016): Technical
Consciousness = 133
Experience = 6064

ChrisBenoit(4949): Traditional
Consciousness = 129
Experience = 6001

Here's a better comparison than the last one, as I just realized that ChrisBenoit(4949) was likely injured. Clearly, there no longer is an advantage in Con for Traditional wrestlers.

Data is accurate as of 09/29/05:

Dr. Nick(13408): Technical
Con = 131
Exp = 5681

Bubba Gump(10671): Traditional
Con = 131
Exp = 5611

ocelot(2): Technical
Con = 130
Exp = 5556

Ive just started using a trad charachter (more ot of principle than anything) but the thing ive found is, though you all say that its better to fight Singles matches throughout, they dont pay well. And as sub and pin moves are the most expensive on the game it takes longer to save for moves. Therefor harder to win the further you progress
How about moves being slightly cheaper or hitting min at different times for different wrestler types
I.E: PG hits min on strength moves earlier, trad hits min for pin moves earlier etc..

Means there would be more reward for trying different styles based on your style preferance?
(Just a thought)

Since someone resurrected this old thread of mine of two years past, I might as well revise my opinion of the Traditional style.

I initially started as a Trad with mixed feelings, as I thought I was picking the "weakest style" but I still thought of it as a fun challenge since I could use my knowledge of the game to offset their weakness. Now that I'm mere weeks away from retirement as a Trad, I can finally say without a shadow of a doubt that the Trad style is indeed a solid style to choose.

As long as you build them correctly, Trads can be ridiculously effective in singles. Their pin bonus makes all the difference in the world. The Trad's trend of success in singles seems to peak from SPWA to PWO, and yet only slightly tapers off while advancing through SSWO and VWO, thus remaining a viable competitor from beginning to end.

Trads are fun, especially if you enjoy getting away with quickie pins and subs.

you can build a trad into a damaging char if you whish. its tuff but you can.

as a starting player trads need to do some newb bashing to move along to get $ for there first pin move. They dont start with one.

the trad move set compaired to all other styles if you work it out on a mean average you will find the class is the worst of the hole groop.

does this make trads bad. No but tuffer if you go the singsl root. am playing a legend right now in law as a trad. dont wory about win loss. just have fun.

Bubba. well he has skill but Bubba did you have a + 3 or 4 when you was a trad? i dont mind it was just tuff to beat you at the best of times lol.
