Thread: Solution to Noob Bashing among other things

Most of the time all I hear about with new ideas is that there is still gonna be noob bashing or that new LAWs can't figure out the game. We have made the manual and they can't read it. We removed the tag team option for LAWs so they won't get tricked into being bashed. We have done this and done that for LAWs and now I must say this. LAW must be changed.

Basically my idea is this. For LAWs, in order for them to learn the game they must have steps to follow. TWG did this in their game, which was a good idea but that's not my idea. My idea is for LAWs to be unable to get into matches with other wrestlers. They should have a handful of available opponents at like half the AP of normal and they train them how to do the game. In fact, if there were a handful of ghost wrestlers for fighting then there would be more matches for PWO, SSWO, and VWO wrestlers.

Also, with wrestlers dying. Most are LAWs who don't know they are about to die and stuff. So why not have the game message them at certain intervals, like 50% vital life, 25% vital life, and at 10% vital life to tell them that they need to go to r&r to keep their wrestler.

And finally, in an effort to make more for donators why not change vow to you can have donators have 5 wrestlers and make nondonators have 2 people. Would make it easier on the mods by there being less multiaccounting and donators get more bang for their buck.

All comments are appreciated.

Ive got too say, i do like the idea of ghost wrestlers for new laws to fight. Maybe have 4 in total, one with 50exp, one with 100exp, one with 150exp and one with 200exp. Their stats would be fixed, so the one at 50 would be 60% full stats, the one at 100 70%, the one at 150 85% and the one at 200 100%. Also, to prevent bashing of the ghost wrestlers, or jobbing to them, you would have to be within 50 exp of the one you are challenging. Just a suggestion on how it may work, but I like the general idea.

Secondly, messages to dieing characters, again a good idea but only if we tell the guys how too save there character, ie direct them to the gym and to train their stats, if we dont do this, it will just lead to either 1. guys dieing or 2. guys annoying more experienced players by asking us what to do.

and thirdly, 5 guys for a donated account is alot of wrestlers, heck, i find it hard using 3. If, and I say IF, we are to increase the incentive, we should be looking at more aps and not more characters.

I think to stop noob bashing in law it would be alot easier to just change the payout.

say 86 is the highest con a wrestler can have while in law.

if a wrestler has only a 40 con.
payout would be reduced to half of what is should be and no exp. gain for the basher while the bashee would recieve his normal pay plus the 50% lost by the basher.
thus helping the bashee to get more money for getting bashed.

and for every con under 40 an extra 2% pay reduction.

the percentages may need tweeked to where the admin think is fair. but if you take away the reward for bashing which is easy money. bashing would stop because there wouldnt be a reward for it.

I like it except the 5 wrestler thing I think donators shooudler get for and non donators get 2. Also you need to bring up ideas to stop staffing.

I don't see this as too much, but would it be possible to see what staff people are currently using? Tourneys won and belts won was added to the main box, why not "Staff currently used: 2-0-0"?

Number of wrestlers is fine as it is.

Ghost wrestlers have been suggested in the past by a few people (myself included). To say that there is no human interaction in LAW is a poor idea in my opinion since people will find the metagame for these bots but then have their backsides handed to them on a silver platter when it comes to SPWA and beyond.

If a wrestler is dying, well that's either farming, someone having an overinflated ego by not reading the manual or just laziness for not reading the manual.

Jim: I don't know if you meant this "payout would be reduced to half of what is should be and no exp. gain for the basher while the bashee would recieve his normal pay plus the 50% lost by the basher"... isn't that saying that a basher should get 0exp?

Too lazy to hit edit:

One thing to think about; no matter what you add, people will always find a way around changes. There is no perfect solution and 99.9999% of noob bashing measures will still have a loophole.

actually, I am not sure about the exp.
since it would enable the basher to stay in law longer, bashing more and making a little more money.
but reduce the payout's monetarily to the basher and giving it to the bashee was my main idea.
although I suppose people would develop a bashee strategy. so it may be best to just reduce the monetary payout to the basher and not give it to anyone.

Law has changed enough if not too much, I say leave law alone, there is bashing or attempted bashing in all leagues and that will never change people will always want easy matchs.

while it's true there is bashing or attempted bashing in all leagues.
the difference is once you get to the other leagues a new player should have learned how to use the decline button for bad match ups.
new players to the game might not realize how the game works and take any match and completely ruin their character. just my opinion

I agree with Craig. Bashing is bashing if the LAWs don't know how to decline then too bad. Not like they will come back

you came back. but if that's the way you want it. that's fine with me. let the bashing continue.

Yeah ... let's just kill all the new players and not encourage/educate them!!!!!

Nice sentiment that sets up VOW for a long and happy future!

Copied from the Noob-Bashing thread ...

QUOTE: So what exactly should get you suspended:
* Fighting some LAW 3 or more times when the LAW have no chance at all. A
low SPWA vs a LAW many times is not nessesarily bad, depends on stats. If
it is a SPWA against a 0 exp LAW it is a suspendable offence.
* Continuesly fighting different LAWS 1 or more times who have no chance
of winning at all. This is very subjective of course. But instead of
killing these new players you should be helping them out.

Looks to me like the rules are already in place to stop new players getting bashed all the time AND to stop players from continuously bashing!!

If any changes were going to be made, I think the one that would make the biggest impact would be to have new players have to go through some sort of tutorial and maybe some sort of a quiz before they can actually start playing.

There are players who will fight in the higher levels. Just because people aren't online, doesn't mean that you can't challenge them.

I like some of these ideas, but a lot of the noob bashing rules in place are just that rules that can be broken...

I say that the game should self-enfoce these kinds of rules by not allowing the match to take place period. For example I'm SSWO, if a LAW sends me a match the game should just say, "You cannot challenge this competitor they are out of your league!" While I believe people should do the right thing on their own... why leave room for temptation?
