Thread: Who's The Basher?
Post by: Bret Hart(73101)
2007-09-19 05:29:04
I'm making this thread in hopes of getting a list of people that everyone can know not to waste their time with challenging. I'm talking about people who let your challenges sit and never accept or even give the simple courtesy of declining it! I'm talking about people who are really close to you in experience, but yet they refuse to fight you... but when you look up their matches they're fighting guys way lower than themselves. I want to expose the bashers. Post your list here, but don't be disrespectful towards the people you're posting about. Just post names and what they did that makes you think they "might be a basher!" ROFL! Keep it respectful, and if anyone that is mentioned and doesn't think they should be... Tell us why. But let's not turn this thread into an insult thread, it's meant soley to save people time from challenging these people. I want to restore competition to VOW... Back when I first started it was very competitive and I miss that. Be sure that the people you post about deserve to be on the list... I'm not talking about people who let your challenge sit for 5 minutes and you got impatient or people who don't have ap. I'm talking about people who let it sit forever and accept other fights besides yours on a continual basis.

Hmmm - when is noob-bashing not noob-bashing? When it doesn't contravene the current Noob-Bashing rule!

Noob-bashing is Noob-bashing in my opinion - just because somebody doesn't fight the same wrestler more than 3 times and therefore doesn't break any of the current rules doesn't mean it isn't noob-bashing!

Taking over 100 wins to get into SPWA is noob-bashing!

Fighting the same opponent multiple times (once out of LAW) and only earning 3 or less XP for a win each time is noob-bashing!

Players with an Exp/Win ratio of 3.0 or less (maybe even higher than that) are noob-bashers! Pity this ratio doesn't show automatically on profiles really.

Players (myself included!) take advantage of this 'loop-hole' in the noob-bashing rule, but it doesn't make it right.

That's my thoughts anyway :)

Can a noob truly bash another noob?

Probably not - but there's a difference between a NOOB + a new player/experienced LAW.

Although in general having an enormous exp advantage over your opponents and declining them or not accepting when the shoe is on the other foot makes you a basher you cant only consider that. Someone with Rikishi exp cant help that they only get 3 exp and Crynus the Bloody is VWO and loses to SPWA. Overall bashing would have to be determined by how challenging the fights you choose are. With that being said considering no matter who I fight it is not much of a challenge I would have to say Will Rumble is the biggest basher haha

Ahhhh, so this explains it. I was wondering why one long time basher who started declining my matches once I was more than 20 exp ahead of him suddenly sent me a match.

a good rule of thumb is to look at your own exp and add 10% to it to set a exp fighting range in exp for your self. this does realy count in law and spwa.

If you bash in law it does not help you to understand move sets and allso your playing other vets that will normaly not take bad exp match ups. some times i dont realy care and toss a few unfear matchs to buds. if there fame rules you still make masive money any way. So haveing some tactics and a goal for vow fighting is a good idea.

I agree with DMD. I know of two guy in SPWA that are just over the 270exp mark and have something like 100+ wins and only single digit losses. I confronted one about it and he said it wasn't noob bashing since he never fought anyone more the 3 times.

It's annoying ass nit-picking people like that that ruin the game for alot of new people. How the hell are they supposed to enjoy it when there's some guy in LAW who's at 225 exp and keeps sending their brand new guy LMS matches. They don't know any better unless they read the Manual(which is almost never).

Will bashing ever go away? I seriously doubt it, there is always going to be that one guy who declines matches around his exp. but accepts all the LAW challenges sent his way.

Question : How many experienced players are currently playing their "original" char created when they started? Virtually NONE !! LOL.

This is because experienced people went through the bashing, talked to experienced players of the time, and probably at some point "looked" at the game manual and took a few notes.

The "noobs" that people are referring to when speaking about new players are probably 90% experimental and 10% actual people who "stay to play". To understand what I talking about, just look at the slow trickle of players that actual progress through the game. The higher leagues are not getting any more populated today, than they were a year ago.
The sad truth is, people just aren't as interested in wrestling as they once were, or prefer the console graphics style wrestling games. So I feel that the "noob bashing" rule really can't be effectively enforced on a game with such a high turnover rate.

I don't think of noob bashing as everyone else does. If someone with five hundred experience points challenges someone with one thousand experience points and the higher kind accepts, it isn't bashing. The same as when someone with one thousand experience points challenges someone with five hundred experience points and the lower kind accepts, it isn't bashing, they decided. To me; the noob bashing rule sucks. I like to challenge people a bit higher then me, but all I get is challenges from new-comers.
But I'm not going to let someone with zero experience points challenge me and let it sit there, I'm not going to tell him to remove it on chat nor message, I'm not going to decline, I'm going to accept and win my match. Call me a "basher" if you want, I'm not going to stop doing this. If you don't want to be "bashed" then don't challenge. Same as staffing, to me it is a game option. I choose to fight all leagues, all categories, and all matches.

This thread is not about the noob bashing rule.

I, too, will not turn down a match sent to me by some noob. I'll accept the match, decimate the noob, and move on. 99% of the time, the noob will learn their lesson and never send me a challenge again. Am I a career basher? Not with an Exp./Win ratio of 4.11.

Read and analyze the content of the very first post and you will see that the thread has absolutely nothing to do with any rules (or even noobs) whatsoever and has everything to do with people that are curiously allergic to fair matches and instead make a living preying upon the weak.

its easy. take what matchs you want. some times i even enter my spwa in vwo tornys . you ask why? well last match i almost pinned Joker out. Now who would have bragging rights.

newb bashing is realy players that ask newbs for matchs and play them till there dead. I my self just take the newb matchs to get them off my list. what i do is a small note on the text of the match to explain why. If i am vwo i am a open challange. as soon as you hit 4000 exp. you should take all matchs. or unless start taking matchs from players with red hair on fridays and only singles matchs if your exp is between 4000 and 4058? and has a grean hat on. dude its a game. take your matchs and run what ever staff you like. i dont care. as long as i make money i dont give too hoots if you do. staff is your option. not mine. if it was i would be playing your char.

I am the king of detachs with well over 500 - 600, I am also a 3 time legend hehe. alot of my detachs came from trying differant stratagies out. it takes a special breed to detach as many times as I have and still be on the legends list 3 times:)

The only two people to try and bash me so far are...

Alex Anderson(211572) - 1527 experience challenged me when I had 345 experience.

Falling Angel challenged me with her 2840 experience, and I had 800 experience.

so what about my spwa bashing Johns vwo and Joker? dosn't this go both ways? if your in spwa your a big boy\girl now and you know better on what fights to take. so why cary on about some player's just after some free cash. some times i get bashed so bad By Mike Joker Mad Max it takes for ever to heal. so some times you just need a light fight to get some money back in your own poket. why wory about it. it will allways happen. unless this vet is doing it to all players in game. then it becomes old news. and if he keeps doing it just say NO. eventuwelly he will take normal fights. it all so turns up on there record.

Wow I just calculated my ratio, and I got 4.49 :)

For people wanting to work this out and aren't particularly good at maths (Plus I really want someone to confirm I've gotten this right) here is the calculation: -

Exp - Total number of matches lost (This means your ratio is a percentage of all matches you have won)

Exp Won / Total number of matches won

= Your average victory Exp against an opponent out of 5

So more mathematically :)

Exp(T) - Losses = Exp(W)
Exp(W) / Wins = Av Exp per Win

Av Exp = 1 = jerky noob basher
Av Exp ( 2 = noob basher
Av Exp ( 3 = wimpy player
Av Exp ) 3 = Normal
Av Exp ) 4 = Pro 1337 :)
Av Exp = 5 = Psychotic anti noob bash hero \m/

Note - brackets are meant to be greater than/less than signs, but HTML isn't allowed :)
