Thread: New Game?

I was wondering if Plit would consider a MMA Style game. I can't seem to find a decent one on the internet, so why I suggest it for Plit! I know this doesn't have a high chance of success, nor do I know if it has been suggested before. PLace your input here, I wanna know what you think!

I was thinking the concept would be similar to VOW, A different styles to choose from, Like Grapper, Striker, or Clinch. They would have stats, Life Points, which would be like consciousness. Every other stats would stay except aerial.

Well, this is just a suggestion, it's pretty basic also, and I dont expect to get alot of positive feed back or non at all.

I personally think it would be a good idea. But for PLIT to make a whole new game, i dont think would happen.

(they could just use VOW as an engine and change all the move names rofl)

Yep, been thinking about it. I've been watching UFC for years, even when tank was around so would be great to do something similer. Also done a bit of research on the net trying to find a nice excel spreadsheet with all the styles, attacks, defenses etc so could load into a game :-) However it doesn't exist so it would mean going through wikipedia and researching the styles and moves.

So a very big task and with limited time new VOW features comes first.

Saying that though its still on the radar, maybe could start with a couple of styles and grow it from there. Lets see.

"if you build it. I will be there"

I'm with Jim 100%. I will be there. I haven't watched wrestling in 4-5 years, but I've really become a fan of MMA in the past year or so.

From a design perspective, I'd suggest that players should be able to choose from a HUGE pool of moves, but only be allowed to purchase a set number of them to "retire" (using a VOW term). This way, each fighter will be wholly unique.

Yeah, I like that idea. If you do choose to create the game, can I make up the name? Haha, but I'll help with whatever I can.

I quite like this idea. There are games out there which are based around the MMA genre (I remember playing one ages ago) but if PLIT Games could get one within the site, then that allows another sector of the gaming market to be introduced to the games.

Massive(ly) multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) is a genre of online role-playing video games (RPGs) in which a large number of players interact with one another in a virtual world.

Therefore VOW is a MMORPG :p

back to the MMA i think it would be a awesome idea. im more of a MMA dude then wrestling. Im a big big mma junky. anyway the styles i would say, kick boxing, muay thai, submission, wrestler, jiu jitsu, judo, ground and pound. i do realize it would probably take sometime but i bet the out come would be greatness.

sounds ok to me. i think each style will have some of the same moves and some willl be called difrent names from difrent shows but this okys by me. more moves in game. still have not seen the show in question however yet.

In terms of randomness I'd say VOW's engine would work well for an MMA game. Just fix the number of fight styles to grappling or striking, and employ a more limited moveset.

You may have to figure out whether all the fights will be done in cage or ring environment. MMA companies distinguish themselves from competitors by using the ring as a selling point. UFC does cage fights, but other MMA feds don't. And a both are very different fight environments.

I think the idea of a MMA style game would be cool. Like most everyone else I've been watching the UFC an PRIDE Fighting for years. Knowing as much as I do about martial arts and all, I know it will/would take time to research everything even for a few styles. But I think that is you do make, people will play.
