Okay, I just noticed that my ranger (Ebola) attacks twice in the Melee Phase. Although, not much in inflicting damage, but it's almost as good as my warriors (maybe my warriors are weak or something). Anyone found anything new?

NICE! I hadn't noticed that yet, I'll look today. What is your ranger's class ? |

Hi, Rayne =o) Ebola's class is at 200 above including the enhancements from named items =o) You'll probably need to reach 200 at least to see it.

This a noob question, but with the old forum gone, I can't find an answer to this. What does class do? |
Post by: raynbow(16237) 2004-12-17 00:47:03 |
Nobody knows for SURE everything that any stat does.
But there does seem to be a direct correlation between Class and the number of attacks that characters make. Warriors get extra melee attacks the fastest, based on class. Rangers get extra missile attacks even faster, also based on class. I can never remember the exact numbers, but I'm sure someone else can provide them. It seems that Omen has also discovered that Rangers get an extra melee attack starting at class 200. I've heard various theory on what Class does for mages and healers, but no one has come up with anything definitive. |

The Class boosts:
Magi & Healers: unknown (maybe lowering MP costs overall for casting?) Warriors: Extra Melee Attack for every 75 Class Rangers: Extra Missile Attack for every 35 class Extra Melee Attack for every 200(?) class(not sure about it, could be another number between 160 and 200, why not 175 = 5 times 35...) Rogues: unknown, but I believe they will probably have received an extra melee attack too for a certain class; maybe the same as rangers, maybe for a lower class in addition, I suppose they may receive additional missile attacks too for a certain class skill, but probably lots higher than rangers (besides that, some speculation: effects on streetwise&haggling(likely), effects on blade skill(less likely)) Maybe warriors also receive extra missile attacks, maybe not... could be for a very high class skill. But then, Warriors are already developed enough. |

Just checked out my Warriors Missile. They have 266,230 and 260 class but still have only one Missile Attack. So probably they won't increase. |

I believe the formula for missile attacks for rangers is actually that you get your 2nd attack at 50, and you get another attack every 25 after that. I have rangers in the 160's and low 170's right now. By Zeus's theory, they should only have 5 attacks until 175. But they currently both have 6 attacks. Mine may not be exactly right either, but I think the formula is a little more complicated than just getting a new attack every X class.
And 200 for ranger melee attack because that's the point at which Omen noticed his rangers were getting another attack. It could be lower, but its definately higher than 160ish because that's where my Ranger is right now. I would think that, as long as it takes to get 25 class levels, Omen probably would have noticed it sooner if it happend at 175. |

Ask Omen when it comes to Rangers, not Phalanx of Zeus =oP He may have written the Manuel Index for that game, but he's got no ranger in his party. Muaha ha hahaha! Okay, don't ask me, actually. I hate interrogators. Hehe.
Anyway, I've noticed this... At the start, I get an additional missile attack for every 25 Class, but when I've reached over 200 just lately--I'm supposed to get eight missile attacks during the missile phase, right? But...I don't. Instead, I get to attack twice every melee round. So, I'm thinking (which I'm not good at) that, you get one missile attack for every 25 Class until you reached 175 Class, then after that, you'll need to reach 210 Class (+35 Class) before you get a bonus missile attack. If not, then I guess Rangers are going to get multiple attacks in melee rounds as well =oD Muaha ha hahaha! Omen |

Hmm well, Gools tried to figure it out once last may with Aragorm Bigtime and he supposed it was 35 class. It may be minor but I had a ranger in my second party and a bit of experience with that one.
And since the formula is simple with warriors, why make it complicated with rangers? Also, with over 200 class and with 25 class per missile attack you're supposed to have nine attacks but you don't... but count it out with 35 class, and you should have six, and a seventh coming in at 210. Additionally for that melee attack I don't think Peter will put a limit to missile attacks and then let them switch to melee attacks(wouldn't be fair, since not all rangers are used in the front rank). But, as Omen states it this well, I have no ranger in my party so I only rely on the info you feed me...:) |

But it definately can't be 35, because if it was, my guys would have one less than they do. |

Hmm, 30 then?
:) |

Honestly Zeus, everytime I've ever heard Ranger missile attacks, I've heard it to be something like second attack at X, and then new attacks every Y after that. And my attacks have always fallen into that pattern. I really don't think it's just every so many levels for the rangers. |
Post by: FloriZeus(7923) 2004-12-18 23:17:47 |
Yeah it just seems strange to me to make it for warriors, for every x class one extra attack, and then for rangers start doing strange thing.
As far as I recall, my ranger (currently fired) did have an extra missile attack before 50 class...= -) |

Ah, great... During Missile Phase, Ebola attacks seven times when he was at 175 (now at 200 and still seven arrows). Malaria, currently at 128, shoots five arrows. The way I see it, it goes like this:
50 Class = 2 Attacks 75 Class = 3 Attacks 100 Class = 4 Attacks 125 Class = 5 Attacks 150 Class = 6 Attacks 175 Class = 7 Attacks Then, it ends there...for some reason I don't know. Maybe it'll start adding one attack per 35 Class after 175 Class. Anyway, didn't you fail the Ranger Academy, Phalanx of Zeus? Now, go back to the Warrior or Mage Only Discussion! Hehe. Omen |

Just trying to be helpful, you know... there is nothing in this game that I don't want to understand... |

I know that my (human) ranger Terence has 72 class and attacks 3 times during missile phase. Unfortunately, I can't remember when he changed from 1 to 2 and from 2 to 3 attacks, but anyway.
I can also tell you that upon reaching class 75, two of my warriors (a human and a dwarf) started kicking ass twice per round instead of once. I can hardly wait for my healer to reach 100 class (only 6 class to go) and see if this changes anything. I hope this has the effect that she heals the person(s) that really need the healing, and not just a random character... |

As a confirmation note, my Ranger did get his 2nd melee attack somewhere between 185-205 Class. He's currently at 242 class and has 9 Missile and 2 Melee attacks. (Still getting a new missile attack at every 30 class) |
